Greenbelt Pi Day Stroll
Details
Join Greenbelt Volkmarchers for their first traditional walk of the year. Greenbelt was established in 1937 as part of the New Deal, Greenbelt was created to provide affordable housing for low‑income families and became one of three federally built “green towns” designed around abundant open space and communal living. Its distinctive architecture—featuring Art Deco and International styles—supports a pedestrian‑friendly layout woven with parks, gardens, and recreational areas that foster a strong sense of community. Today, Greenbelt has grown into a diverse city blending residential, commercial, and recreational spaces, and it remains proud of its roots through the Greenbelt Museum, which preserves and interprets the town’s unique history and heritage.
There are 2 trails:
- 5k is mostly on sidewalks and groomed paths and features the original houses, garden paths and Greenbelt Lake.
- The 10k continues featuring newer homes and small sections of trails in the woods.
Start anytime between 9:30 to 11:30 and finish by 2:30. This walk is sanctioned by the American Volkssports Association, America's Walking Club.
There is a $4 participation fee for anyone over 12 years of age. Please bring cash or Greenbelt Volkmarchers Coupons.
Please RSVP so we can notify you of any cancelations due to weather.
