MSW Supports The Maryland Half Marathon and 5K Race!
NOW HERE'S SOMETHING DIFFERENT! PLEASE COME SUPPORT A GREAT CAUSE! Maryland Spyder Web has been promoted by one if its alumni, Mr. Jon Sevel, representing the 2018 Maryland Half Marathon & 5K race, supporting The University of MD Marlene and Stewart Greenebaum Comprehensive Cancer Center (UMGCCC). This event is celebrating its 10th year with over 130,000 (running) miles logged. Now does this mean it's time to ante up for all our wonderful road food over the years? Nooo ... It means we've been asked to ryde as **Course Marshalls** for their event. The Event Committee intends to make a donation to MSW, and MSW will re-donate that, short of club expenses to the Charity. UMGCCC is a National Cancer Institute-designated comprehensive cancer center, a distinction that places it in the top tier of cancer centers throughout the country. To learn more about UMGCCC, please see The Race itself will be over a 13 mile circuit surrounding the Maple Lawn area in Howard County. Our job will be to station our bikes along the course to entertain and support the runners, and flag them in the direction they should be going. The race committee will be giving us our location assignments between now and race day. They are SUPER excited about MSW's support and will have free refreshments for us as we begin and conclude our support to their event. Mr. Sevel and I are consulting on other venues and MSW PR as well, so this doesn't look like just a flash in the pan; rather, a relationship we hope to build over the years. The event site, with all the details, including the race course, is at: On Race Day, we will meetup in Columbia, MD at the Sunoco off of Freetown Road. Freetown is the first major intersection you encounter when entering Columbia via Cedar Lane, from Rte 32. We will then ryde out to the Event Center near the beginning of the course, then disburse to our respective locations. You will be with your bike at all times, WEAR YOUR MSW COLORS! Okay: Need a commitment here - (1) This is a rain or shine event, (2) At no time should an MSW Course Marshall depart his/her station during the race. Please bring your sun screen, rain gear and plenty of water ... Not only for you; you may find yourself aiding a distressed runner! (3) It's going to be an early day! We need to be at the meet-up point and rolling out to the event site by 7am-ish in order to get our assignments and be on station by the time the race begins. We're looking for MAX participation, folks! This is going to be a great day to show off your bikes, support a good cause and interact with a great group of folks who'll appreciate you being there! This is a huge event with music, entertainment. MSW will both have and be a part of all the fun!

What we're about

Founded on August 11, 2010, The Maryland Spyder Web (MSW) is an open, inclusive gathering place, network hub and ryde forum for Can Am Spyder ryders and enthusiasts from beginners to advanced serving the greater mid-Atlantic region. Our membership draws from Maryland, District of Columbia, Pennsylvania, Virginia and West Virginia. Our friendships extend much further. We have no pretense or expectation of you other than to join our club with a zeal to ryde, learn, become a better ryder and to be respectful and helpful to others. Our purpose should be to propogate visibility and participation for ryding among as many Spyder owners/enthiusiasts and on as many levels as possible, mixed with amazing rydes, tours and social events. We extend warm welcome to all whilst only asking for courtesy and respect for the club in return.

Our regular members are those who own and ryde the Can-Am Spyder, in any one of its models since it debuted in 2008. In addition to our Regular members, we welcome Associate Membership by ryders of "trikes" of any brand, including the and sidecar ryders. By invitation, we welcome two-wheel motorcycle riders who are family members of our regular or associate members, especially if they'd like to share or learn more about the Spyder experience.

MSW facilitates rydes, rallies (clutters) and tours, which have all become common language both to those in MSW, and others ... including other clubs who've ridden with us. Successful events can be credited to hours upon hours of off-season planning and the care of a growing nucleus of forum committee. We are always looking for folks to participate, in building, organizing and even leading rydes and events. Our group supports other regional and national Spyder forums and ryding organizations. Our members are encouraged to participate in any of these forums, but of course, consider MSW as home. Our only no-no would be to recruit on behalf of another club off our roster. Please see our Rules and Etiquette document ( further information.
