2023 Masherbrum 6112m Reddomain Climbing

Reddomain 6,112m is one of the fascinating peaks of Minya Konka massif in Daxue Shan mountainrange which is located in the Ganzi Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture in western Sichuan, China, rises fifteen kilometers north of Minya Konka.
The first introduction of Reddomain was in National Geographic Magazine in 1930,which was first ascended by the Gakushuin University Alpine Club in 1999.

The traditional route of Reddomain is the West Ridge route by the first ascent of Japanese team. The traditional route of Reddomain is the West Ridge route by the first ascent of Japanese team. Following Chinese and foreign teams made ascent 8-10 times via different climbing routes including the traditional route.

In 2021,Masherbrum organized the first international Reddomain climbing, assisted three foreigner members sucessfully made the summit meanwhile each represents their country's first ascent of Reddomain.

Based on the past operation of Reddomain climbing , Masherbrum will continue to make improvement and operate Reddomain climbing for foreign mountaineering enthusiasts in 2023.

Highlights in 2023 Reddomain climbing：

1 Fix-rope climbing with experienced mountain guides
2 Maximum 9 climbers in the group and sufficient acclimation
3 Build the base camp and high mountain camps in advance, full package logistic services

We choose the west ridge as the climbing route as less difficulty and higher safety.

Starting from the shore of the glacial lake, firstly we will pass through the scree-covered part and arrive in the snow slope where we will set up Camp I at 5250 meters; then climb up snow slope to get on the west ridge, passing through the section of mixed rock and ice, arrive in the snow ridge where we will set up Camp II at 5750 meters; Finally approach the summit along the steep snow ridge.

We will mostly use fixed ropes from CI(5250m) to Summit (6112m).

The difficulty of west ridge climbing route is estimated to be AD+ (Assez difficile) in the IFAS international climbing difficulty rating system.

Each member must have at least two snow mountains climbing experience, good stamina, luggage carrying and climbing skills including glacial travel and rope-drop operation etc.
