Joy Is Not a Perk: It’s a Practice
A Learning Lab on Creating Meaningful, Sustainable Work
Joy at work is often misunderstood. It’s mistaken for perks, positivity, or fleeting motivation—something nice to have once the “real work” is done. In reality, joy is a renewable human resource that supports focus, resilience, collaboration, and long-term performance.
This interactive learning lab invites participants to rethink joy not as a personality trait or cultural bonus, but as a practice shaped by how work is designed, how people relate to one another, and how leaders show up day to day.
Drawing from research in positive psychology, emotional intelligence, and strengths-based development, including insights from Martin Seligman, Gallup, and Brené Brown—this lab offers a grounded, practical exploration of what actually sustains energy and meaning at work.
Participants will:

  • Examine common myths about joy, burnout, and “pushing through”
  • Identify where joy already exists in their work—and where it quietly gets blocked
  • Explore how strengths, psychological safety, and purpose contribute to everyday engagement
  • Practice small, realistic shifts that increase clarity, connection, and vitality on the job

The lab is highly interactive and reflective, blending brief research-based insights with individual reflection and small-group dialogue. It is designed for professionals working in high-responsibility, mission-driven environments who want to do good work without sacrificing their humanity.
Participants will leave with:

  • A clearer, more realistic understanding of joy at work
  • Language to discuss joy in professional, credible ways
  • One or two concrete practices they can immediately apply—personally or as leaders—to support healthier, more sustainable ways of working
