Snorkel/Freedive for Beginners
Details
I want to dedicate this session to folk who either never have been in the ocean are very new to oceanic adventures. I'll keep an eye on the weather and ocean conditions but I'm optimistic this will be a good day to explore where it is fairly shallow and sheltered. Let's meet near San Carlos Beach (also called Breakwater at the end of Cannery Row by the Coastguard Pier) and go freedive/snorkel to explore the kelp forest! I'll be waiting at the diving statue right next to the Cannery Row public bathrooms. The address is:
100 Reeside Avenue, Monterey, California 93940
Check the group description for more detailed guidelines on what would be good to bring and how to prepare but the short version is make sure you bring a towel, change of clothes (there are public restrooms if you need), sunblock, and any motion sickness medicine if you are concerned about feeling seasick.
You can pay to park in the lot but there is also free parking available above Lighthouse Avenue.
If you need to rent gear and would like assistance with that process, feel free to email me at tfuller.science@gmail.com (I can even meet earlier at a dive shop to help with the gear acquisition process). Turns out gear can only be rented at least 24 hours in advance from Aquarius Dive Shop (https://aquariusdivers.com/equipment-rentals).
