Welcome to the Q2 edition of MCDC MTL Meetup Group.
We'll be using this session to:
- Discuss proven approaches and best practices to support a scalable DevOps implementation in the enterprise setting
- Provide insight and discuss the realities of migrating large legacy on-premise environments to public cloud. We will take a deeper dive into how a world class organization has leveraged the cloud and how it’s changed their mindset regarding application development
- Share ideas and experiences on how to plan for cloud adoption & how to optimize your cloud investment
Presentation #1 - Enterprise DevOps
The challenges we encounter in enterprise environments like security, compliance and governance requirements can potentially influence DevOps initiatives in a negative way. In this presentation, we will talk about managing common DevOps adoption challenges in large enterprise. We will discuss best practices to maneuvre around the departmental silos and showcase the value of this movement for enterprise wide adoption, making DevOps a core value in the organization’s culture.

Presentation #2 - Taming the cloud: on becoming cloud natives
Moving a multi-billion dollar business from on premise to the cloud is not an easy task. Doing so with minimal impact on customers is what everybody expects, but such disruptive change also brings an ocean of opportunities to improve how we think about software development. Come and learn about how the cloud changed Expedia’s perspective on building the best travel platform. With some hints and tricks, we will share how Expedia has utilized the cloud to design, build and deploy their world class services.
Jean-Cedric Desrochers
Principal software engineer at Expedia Group. He's been heavily involved in the migration of core service to the cloud, to improve the Expedia’s lodging platform. He also focus on cloud cost optimization initiatives to improve efficiency of cloud resource usage. Other areas of interest include resiliency, chaos testing, predictable delivery of code and having fun building cool products!
