Important - As alcohol will be available at this event, this is an age-restricted meetup. You must be 21 or over to attend. Unfortunately, we are unable to extend invitations to individuals below legal drinking age.

21:00 - final scraps of food/beer; transition of networking over to the newly opened City Works brew pub, street level, Capital One Tower.

Robert Weiss "Getting the Most from Def Con"
Abstract: Def Con can be an overwhelming experience for many people. 30,000 hackers in one place is a lot. For many, their first trip will be life-changing. At this talk, pwcrack, the lead Speaker Operations Goon for Def Con, will talk about the ins and outs of attending the Con, level set expectations of what is going to happen and help you get the most from your experience.
Bio: Robert Weiss [pwcrack] is the lead Speaker Operations Goon for Def Con. The "Goons" are the volunteer organizers and staff of Def Con. During the day, Bob is a Principal Security Engineer and penetration tester for WarCollar Industries, LLC, a federal government contractor, and supports the U.S. Government perform security assessments. Bob is also a member of NoVaHackers and Unallocated Space and the former co-chair of BSidesDC.

Duncan Woodbury "How Difficult is it Really to Hack Vehicle Systems?"
Abstract: The presenter will provide an overview of hacking embedded transportation systems through stories of mischief, mayhem, and adventures in exploitation over the last 10 years by his hacker collective known as CHV. A formal overview of the fundamentals of automotive cybersecurity will be provided, with a roadmap of risks the transportation sector faces in the years ahead, and the technologies various groups are developing in an effort to prepare us for the uncertainty that lay ahead.
NB: All stories and information presented will be fit for public consumption, non-incriminating, and non-proprietary.
Bio: Duncan is a car hacker by training, with a career made up of serving on various red teams and starting small businesses focused on penetration testing of various transportation systems. Duncan is a DEF CON speaker, Car Hacking Village proponent and troublemaker, and mentor and facilitator of educational events focused on teaching students and professionals the fundamentals of hacking vehicle systems. All efforts are directed towards securing transportation systems through development of white-hat capabilities to provide coverage, resiliency, and defense-through-offense.
