How Can We Help Others But Still Take Care of Ourself?

“In man there are two natures; his spiritual or higher nature and his material or lower nature. In one he approaches God, in the other he lives for the world alone. Signs of both these natures are to be found in men.” from the Baha’i Writings

It is a paradox. Help others, love one another, put others first as we are encouraged in our faith traditions. But the watchwords in therapy are for us to set clear boundaries. Put ourselves first. Don’t let others cross your line. Don’t allow others to take advantage or oppress you.
What’s the answer? Can we find a balance?

Please join us for a time of friendship and socializing and an hour of elevated conversation about the theme of how to balance self-love with our love for others. We will be using the sacred writings from the Baha’i Faith, the world’s most recent independent religion, as a foundation to guide our discussion as well as other sources of inspiration. All people are invited and welcome!

"One of the deep secrets of life is that all that is really worth doing is what we do for others." Lewis Carol
