Putting Spirituality Into Action (Free Event)
Details
**This event is free and open to all. While hosted at the university, we hope to create a diverse space welcoming people from beyond just this campus, from all ages, backgrounds, and beliefs.
Be part of a different kind of conversation as we explore together in this week’s discussion the challenges and rewards of trying to live a spiritual life in what can often feel like a very material world.
It sometimes seems like there’s a constant stream of problems to fix and struggles to face – in our own lives, in our families and communities, and in the world around us. When faced with personal circumstances or societal conditions that seem overwhelming or even daunting to fix, a common, natural response is often to have good intentions, the sharing of “thoughts & prayers” with those around us. But are they, by themselves, enough? Is it enough to abhor prejudice, for example, or do we have to try to actively find ways to work together to eradicate it? Is it enough to hold positive thoughts in our hearts without finding practical ways to lead to positive change? How can we learn to put our spiritual beliefs into practice and work with each other to build a world that actually reflects our values?
Please join us for a lively discussion as we explore how we can use our own sense of spirituality to better the world around us. Come explore with us the spiritual perspective offered by the Bahá’í Teachings on living a meaningful and impactful spiritual life as individuals and as communities.
“The betterment of the world can be accomplished through pure and goodly deeds and through commendable and seemly conduct.” – Bahá’í Teachings
*** This event is free and open to all regardless of background or belief. Donations will not be accepted.
