Mechanic Mindset (Hard Discipline) VS Artist Mindset (Easy Discipline)
Details
Ever wonder why you keep missing your goals and why most people fail their new year resolutions? The answers lies within the 2 types system which we operate to achieve our goals.
System 1: The Mechanic Mindset: This is a result based framework.
System 2: The Artist Mindset: This is a process based framework.
Our world heavily functions on the result based structure so much so that it overlooks the process parts of the journey. This method usually causes burnout or straight up quitting.
The world has always held the notion "no pain, no gain." with other similar sayings that portray the notion that hard work and success must come from hard discipline.
Within the last 10 to 15 years, numerus books and podcasts from Navy Seals, Army Rangers, other military special forces, and entrepreneur speakers have espoused the utility of hard discipline.
AI can do a lot of things quickly and efficiently, making it ideal for completing mundane tasks.
However, the issue is many people are also using it to take the process and the enjoyment out of creativity and human connection. This is why I believe there are certain things that should remain human-centric, such as art, music, sports, films, TV shows, healthcare, legal professionals, etc.
I'm not worried about machines that can replicate human paintings or other abilities but I'm concerned that mankind is forgetting that human bonding comes from organic connections through lived experiences, learning from each other like the stories and fables we tell our children and to each other. This is what makes things worth doing. It is what makes us human. If beauty is only valued through the lens of speed, cost, and profitability, then we have forgotten the whole purpose of art. It is also why many are calling instant art forms fake, lazy and soulless no matter how "real" it looks. Many are starting to push back against it.
Humans don't crave perfection, we crave imperfection from nature and other people like sadness, happiness, suffering, and joy. All which are part of the processes in the making.
*Here's an example of how an individual is perceived while utilizing the two different frameworks:
If a woman gets hard tasks done and reaches her high goals through sheer will and determination, people will praise her for having strong mental fortitude and almost seeing her as a super hero with super human abilities. However, if she gets hard tasks done and reaches her big goals through enjoyment, people will think she's a workaholic and needs to see a therapist.
I argue that Hard Discipline (Mechanic mindset) can only work in the short term at best because it goes against human nature. While Easy Discipline (Artist mindset) is sustainable in the long run as people enjoy pleasure which goes right along with human nature.

Guidelines:
- If your name on Zoom does not match your Zoom name, you will be removed or not admitted.
- Hand raises are required. There are no limits on how many times you can raise your hand.
- There will be a 2-3 minute timer for every person depending the size of attendees. However, in this group, I do allow a brief back and fourth interjection from others if it's something that's related to the person who was just speaking. This is a way to prevent the group from feeling too "robotic" in style and get your pressing question asked to the speaker and get the answer right away without waiting all the way back to your turn again.
- Be authentic & civil!
- Please refrain from using Ad Hominem (personal) attacks. This includes in voice, in meeting chat, and in the comments section below. Instead, please attack the points from others. Severe Ad Hominem such as racist behavior will result in being removed from the meeting.
- Zoom link is posted well before the day of the meeting but you will not be able to join until 10 minutes before the meeting start time.
