Racial amity refers to friendship and goodwill among people of different racial backgrounds, often emphasizing the importance of understanding and cooperation. It is rooted in the idea that amity is essential for achieving social justice and fostering harmony within society.

The Baha’i teachings advocate for racial amity as a fundamental aspect of humanity's unity and progress towards equality and justice.

Baha’u’llah, the Founder and Prophet of the Baha’i Faith wrote: “All men have been created to carry forward an ever-advancing civilization. The Almighty beareth Me witness: To act like the beasts of the field is unworthy of man. Those virtues that befit his dignity are forbearance, mercy, compassion and loving-kindness towards all the peoples and kindreds of the earth.”

All created things have their degree or stage of maturity. The period of maturity in the life of a tree is the time of its fruit-bearing… The animal attains a stage of full growth and completeness, and in the human kingdom man reaches his maturity when the light of his intelligence attains its greatest power and development… Similarly there are periods and stages in the collective life of humanity… now it has entered its long-predicted phase of maturity, … That which was applicable to human needs during the early history of the race can neither meet nor satisfy the demands of this day… Man must now become imbued with new virtues and powers, new moral standards, new capacities. New bounties, perfect bestowals, are awaiting and already descending upon him…– (Abdu’l-Baha, Foundations of World Unity)

The well-being of mankind, its peace and security, are unattainable unless and until its unity is firmly established.” (Baha’u’llah)

Questions for Reflection:
➢ How do we build a Spiritual Civilization?
➢ How does each protagonist (individual, community, institution) contribute as “agents of change,” in this process?
➢ How does Race Amity play a specific role in an ever-advancing civilization?

This meet up will explore ways that we can develop and maintain the kinds of cross-racial friendships needed to build and sustain a unified and peaceful society. Baha’is are working through-out the world to advance the whole of humankind toward unity and justice. All beliefs are welcome to share.
