GOD

Where does one begin a discussion on God? We, as humans, have tried for ages to comprehend the Incomprehensible. As Bahá’u’lláh says about God-

“Far be it from His glory that human tongue should adequately recount His praise, or that human heart comprehend His fathomless mystery.”

And yet, we define Him, divide Him, multiply Him, praise Him, blame Him…. In moments of loss, when pain tests us, or when we witness calamities, we ask: How could God allow this? And so often, we tie our faith to what we receive, seeing God as good when our wishes are granted, or distant/non-existent when they are not. In our inability to fully grasp Him we give God different names and then tragically we fight over those names, taking lives.

-If God is ultimately beyond human comprehension, what does it truly mean to “know” Him?
-And why have human beings, throughout history, divided and even fought over different understandings and names of the same Divine Reality?

Join us as we humbly seek to unravel some of this Mystery, acknowledging our limits as we explore The Inscrutable Being.

Although this discussion will be based on selections from the Baha’i Writings all respectfully shared views are welcome regardless of background or belief.
