Talk & Discussion: Understanding Anger and Fear

Details
In this presentation & group discussion event we will be covering:
- The function and purpose of anger and fear.
- Healthy and detrimental ways of experiencing these emotions.
- Why people avoid these emotions and what this does to them.
- How our childhood affects our experience of these emotions.
- The line between processing an emotion and dwelling on it.
- Extracting the gold from these emotions and living well.
The overall purpose of this event is to keep growing our Emotional Intelligence, to enjoy stimulating conversation, and to meet like-minded people who are interested in psychology and personal growth.
This is the first event in a two-part series: sadness and joy will be covered in the next session.
ABOUT THIS EVENT
The ideas will be presented as a working perspective, not as textbook truths. In this presentation Val will be drawing on his extensive experience of working with different personal growth modalities.
Part of the event will be dedicated to group discussion - participants will be invited to share their own perspectives and experiences and to ask any questions related to the topic. Constructive debate and respectful disagreement are welcome.
This event is open to everyone, even if you’ve never been to any of our events before. Whether you are an intellectual or simply a curious person interested in the topic, everyone is welcome.
The group discussion parts of this event will be moderated to prevent people from dominating the conversation or rambling on for too long and to keep the discussion on topic.
The event will start at 6:15pm (no latecomers) and finish around 8:30pm. We’ll keep the venue open until 9pm for those who want to stay longer and chat / socialize informally.
This event is a great opportunity to stimulate and expand your mind with new perspectives, get clearer about your own opinions and to meet interesting like-minded people.
COST: $25 good income / $20 medium income / $15 low income
