M2C @ BMS: MicroPython and Microcontrollers

Welcome to the first M2C (Meanjin Microcontroller Club) Meetup! Join us for a lightning talk at 6pm followed by an opportunity to network and chat with other people in the community.

Jaimyn will talk about what MicroPython is and how it allows you to run (nearly) ordinary Python code on microcontrollers and interact with hardware. We'll start with the basics of how to flash the MicroPython firmware, hookup a simple LED, then write some code to make it flash different patterns. Then everyone will have a chance to ask questions with an interactive Q&A then network with everyone else to show off your projects, get advice, and make new friends.

📅 Event Details:

• Date: Tuesday 1st April 2025
• Time: Doors open at 5:30pm, event starts around 6:00pm
• Location: Brisbane Makerspace - Level 1 / 146 Wickham St, Fortitude Valley
• Accessibility: the space does not have a wheel chair accessible entrance as you have to walk up a flight of stairs (which has a landing 3/4 of the way up).
• Catering: this event is not catered as it's run by volunteers. If you'd like to sponsor our next meetup so we can provide pizza, please get in touch with the organisers! There is a Vietnamese restaurant downstairs if you'd like to order food and bring it up.
