Although we often avoid thinking about death, it is an inescapable part of life. Each of us will face the loss of loved ones, as well as our own mortality. The Buddhist understanding of death and dying offers profound and practical guidance, helping us to acknowledge impermanence and transform the truth of death into a powerful, life-enhancing force.
Through contemplation and meditation, we learn how awareness of death can enrich our lives, deepen our compassion, and empower us to live with greater meaning, clarity, and joy. This understanding not only supports us in working skillfully with grief, but also enables us to help those who are dying, or who have already passed away.
Drawing on Buddha’s teachings, this course explores the process and meaning of death and dying, special ways of thinking about mortality, and how to prepare for death with grace, faith, and fearlessness.
