Meditation and the Precious Lamrim

Details
For the month of July, before we take our August break, we will be looking at one of the true jewels in the vast world of Buddhist meditation, called "Lamrim" in the great Kadampa tradition. These teachings come down from our historical Buddha through the great Buddhist master Atisha in the 11th century, to Je Tsongkapa in 14th century Tibet, and then down through a succession of teachers to our modern times.
Buddha taught a carefully estimated 84,000 different specific teachings. These have been compiled in various canons but the Lamrim stands alone as the most concise, organized and yet comprehensive presentation of Buddha's teachings in the form of specific meditations, accessible and formulated for both beginners and advanced meditators. Taken as a whole, the Lamrim meditations present a systematic and transformative map for following the path to awakening. Further, these meditations have been honed and finely tuned to western culture by Geshe Kelsang Gyatso for our specific benefit. The Lamrim is an inconceivable gift and we will use the month of July as an introduction to these incomparable teachings.
