A Tribute to the Master of the Santoor Pandit Bhajan Sopori!

Pandit Abhay Sopori unfolds the timeless magic of Indian classical music with his distinctive Santoor style, the "Sopori Baaj." He blends the emotional depth of vocals with the virtuosic expression of instrumental music. The Santoor engages in a captivating rhythmic dialogue with the Tabla. The concert guides the audience through various rhythmic cycles (talas), taking them on a journey into the profound soundscape of the Santoor.

Pandit Abhay Rustum Sopori is a renowned Indian Santoor player, composer, and conductor of orchestras, folk ensembles, and Sufi groups. As a representative of the over 300-year-old Santoor tradition from Kashmir, he is considered a cultural figure of Jammu & Kashmir and has brought together many people from around the world through his work. This tour is dedicated to his father, the legendary Pandit Bhajan Sopori, who decisively shaped the "Sopori Baaj" and brought it to its present-day expressiveness.
