Sheringham Park - rhododendron walk to coastal views (plus refreshments).
Details
This is an annual event.
The walk through the park is always lovely; it's even more stunning and impressive when the rhododendrons and azaleas are in bloom.
The 1000 acres here were landscaped by Humphrey Repton, who declared it had 'more natural beauty and advantages' than any place he had ever seen!
We will meet at 11 am near to the entry point ( small hut and display board) at the edge of the car park.
The entry to the park is signed off Holt Road and reached before the turning to Sheringham.
We will walk about 4 miles through the park - energetic people can also climb the gazebo on the way: the gazebo has 360° views over the park and towards the sea. We will return to the shop and cafe for snacks, coffee etc.
There are toilets on site near the shop etc.
Well-behaved dogs are allowed, but they must stay on leads and be under close control to protect birds and nearby livestock. Please also bring bags to ensure you clear any mess!
The walk is on planned paths but please wear suitable clothes/ footwear for walking through woodland and countryside.
Parking and entry are free to National Trust members and £6.50 per car for non-members for the day.
There will be a £2 members fee for this event.
We will walk along a main path and continue into the fields near the hall, returning to the car park area. You may wish to stay longer and explore further, though, once we've completed the walk. There is a small display area and shop on site too.
