Mindera Talks - Android Multiplatform
Details
This Time we will have two talks on Multiplatform on Android Development for you to enjoy:
A Multiplatform, Multi-Tenent Challenge:
What if you had to build a multiplatform (Android & iOS) and multi-tenent app with the objective of sharing the biggest amout of code possible while having all apps being UI/UX independent? We want to take you through the discovery trip we made while building this. From architecture to ins and outs of KMM via Gradle magic that enabled us to have a Android, iOS and Desktop app. Also sharing our rational over each of the options we took: Why not React Native? Or Xamarin? Should we use Compose Multiplatform?
Brave New Multiplatform World:
November 1, 2023 - the day that Kotlin Multiplatform became stable and production-ready. Although this marks an important landmark in Multiplatform development, truth be told, a lot of companies have been using it on their apps for some years now. Some share the entire business logic; others share network access; and then there are ones that are only used for database access. This is one of the brilliant features that we have. Anyone can decide what's worth sharing.
Days later, we saw the new release of Compose Multiplatform, then the launch of Fleet, and while I'm writing this description, we have the first beta of Kotlin 2.0.0 with the new K2 compiler enabled by default. At this moment, it almost feels like a magic trick where I'm watching JetBrains pull new tools and versions out of their wrists. It's mesmerising!
In this talk, we're going through all of these new releases and analysing the current state of Kotlin and Compose Multiplatform in this brave new world.
