From Wikipedia: The Old Man & the Gun is a 2018 American biographical[a] crime film written and directed by David Lowery, about Forrest Tucker, a career criminal and prison escape artist. The film stars Robert Redford, Casey Affleck, Danny Glover, Tika Sumpter, Tom Waits and Sissy Spacek. Redford, then 82 years old, announced his intent to retire from acting after completion of the film. Redford's brief appearance in Avengers: Endgame (2019) was filmed before he made The Old Man & the Gun. It was his final filmed movie role before his death in 2025.

The film had its world premiere at the Telluride Film Festival in August 2018, and was theatrically released in the United States in September 2018. It received mostly positive reviews from critics, and Redford was nominated for Best Actor – Motion Picture Musical or Comedy at the 76th Golden Globe Awards.

About the actor: Charles Robert Redford Jr. (August 1936 – September 2025) was an American actor, director and producer, celebrated for his magnetic presence as a leading man during the American New Wave. Across a career spanning more than six decades, Redford earned widespread recognition and numerous awards, including an Academy Award, a BAFTA Award and five Golden Globe Awards, (including a Cecil B. DeMille Award in 1994). He has also received various honors including the Screen Actors Guild Life Achievement Award in 1996, the Academy Honorary Award in 2002, the Kennedy Center Honors in 2005, the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2016 and the Honorary César in 2019.
