Open Air Cinema in Kocher Park

I usually arrive about 18:15 to buy dinner and a drink. You are allowed to bring your own food and drinks.

Films: A wide range of films are being shown, always in the original language. The films being shown can be found here: https://www.kinoimkocher.ch/programm. See below for more information on the films.

Cost of entry: FREE, but you may donate when you leave the park. Bring a picnic blanket or beach towel. You can bring your own food & drinks or you can purchase things on site.

General info:
Entry, Bar and Food Stands open at 18:00. Seating on the ground starts to get crowded by 19:15-19:30 and the main film starts when it gets dark, about 21:00. (There are also usually short films scheduled before each main showing.)

There is a bar, a popcorn stand and a food truck. Separate from that, other things available in the past have been: Asian finger food (samosas and spring rolls), ice cream and a place to order pizzas which are then delivered to a table near the entry to the cinema area of the park.

How to find me: Look for me at the top of the hill, by the bush on the right (when looking up the hill). I always try to wear a very bright/fluorescent colored Tshirt so I am easy to spot! I can only save a place for 2-3 other people so get there early to make sure of a spot. I have an orange, red and white picnic blanket spread out.
Eight films are being shown and, for the first time, other things will be happening during the 10 days of this event.

• Wednesday, August 5th: Little Miss Sunshine is a 2006 American tragicomedy[ film starring an ensemble cast consisting of Greg Kinnear, Steve Carell, Toni Collette, Paul Dano, Abigail Breslin, and Alan Arkin, all of whom play members of a dysfunctional family taking the youngest (Breslin) to compete in a child beauty pageant. Breslin's breakout performance in the film earned her an Academy Award nomination. The road film tackles themes of family, depression, self-acceptance, and finding meaning in absurd conditions. In English with German subtitles.
• Thursday, August 6th: Mani Matter – Warum syt dir so truurig? is a documentary film by Swiss director Friedrich Kappeler from 2002. The film about the singer-songwriter Mani Matter, who died in 1972, became the most successful Swiss documentary film to date with 146,624 cinema admissions in Switzerland and held this record until 2012. In Swiss German.
• Friday, August 7th: Jurassic Park is a 1993 American science fiction adventure film directed by Steven Spielberg and written by Michael Crichton and David Koepp, based on Crichton's 1990 novel. Starring Sam Neill, Laura Dern, Jeff Goldblum, and Richard Attenborough, the film is set on the fictional island of Isla Nublar near Costa Rica, where wealthy businessman John Hammond (Attenborough) and a team of genetic scientists have created a wildlife park of de-extinct dinosaurs. In English with German subtitles.
• Saturday, August 8th: Nosferatu: A Symphony of Horror (German: Nosferatu – Eine Symphonie des Grauens) is a 1922 silent German Expressionist vampire film. It stars Max Schreck as Count Orlok, a vampire who preys on the wife of his estate agent and brings the plague to their town. I believe there will be a musical soundtrack.

• Tuesday, August 11th: Lucas' Pub QuizCompany.
• Wednesday, August 12th: Le Fabuleux Destin d'Amélie Poulain is a 2001 French-German film co-written and directed by Jean-Pierre Jeunet.
  It is a romantic comedy featuring magical realism. In French with German subtitles.
• Thursday, August 13th: Capernaum is a 2018 Lebanese drama film starring Syrian refugee child actor Zain Al Rafeea as Zain El Hajj, a 12-year-old living in the slums of Beirut. The film is told in flashback format and debuted at the 2018 Cannes Film Festival, where it was selected to compete for the Palme d'Or and won the Jury Prize. In Original sound with German subtitles.
• Friday, August 14th: "Surprise Movie" for age 16 and older. In English with German subtitles.
