Cheese and Wine Ride
Details
A favorite rode bike ride in Marin County.
This is a 25 mile loop starting at the Trader Joe's back parking lot in Novato to the Marin Cheese Company with a side visit to Olompali State Park.
From our meeting spot we will be heading north on a frontage road paralleling Highway 101 to our first bathroom stop at Olompali State Historic Park about three miles from the starting point.
Olompali State Parks was an old Coast Miwok Indian village with a 'checkered' recent past as a Hippy colony and as the home of the Grateful Dead rock band in the 60s.
we continue on a dedicated bike path paralleling highway 101 heading north until turning west on the scenic and rural San Antonio Road.
Then turning south on the Pt. Reyes - Petaluma road to the Marin French Cheese Company for a well deserved lunch stop.
After lunch we head back on Novato going east past Stafford Lake then continuing through town back to our staring point.
We will ride and at avarege leisurely pace of 10mph on the flats. Slower going uphill and much faster back down.
Please RSVP so we'll wait for you an extra ten minutes.
Notes:
* The Marin French Cheese Company has a selection of sandwiches as well as many locally made soft cheeses and drinks for us choose from.

* Since this is mostly a road bike trip, please make sure to have a working tail light in as as well as a flag. Though county roads are lightly traveled some drivers tend to speed.
