Holiday Walk Beacon Hill, Public Garden & Esplanade
Details
Cherry blossoms are here for a short time and there are 250 of these trees on the Esplanade to see. By coincidence Boston is hopping with visitors associated with the Marathon. This walk will take in the Cherry walk along the Charles River and through the Spring flowers of the Public Garden and return up Beacon Hill and back to Bowdoin on Cambridge Street. Total distance should be 3 to 4 miles.
Monday weather forecast is looking better.
Only concern is traffic, but we start relatively far from the Marathon Finish area.
Travel by train or subway recommended Monday.
Cushing Park is a short walk from North Station, and Subways: Blue (here), Green (Gov't Cntr), Orange (Haymarket), and Red (Park).
Street Parking is generally free on Holidays and Sundays (check restrictions [2026 Boston Marathon Traffic Advisory | Boston.gov](https://www.boston.gov/news/2026-boston-marathon-traffic-advisory) ). Check out New Chardon or Bowdoin streets. Parking Meters | MassGIS Data Hub . Garage at Saltonstall building (30 Somerset St.) is $14 on weekends.
