Explore Mass Audubon's wildlife sanctuary bordered by the Charles River and wetlands. Well maintained trails weave through the shade of mature woodlands into open fields and along the edges of vibrant streams, ponds, marshland, and Charles River A few small hills. Sturdy shoes or boots recommended. It can be buggy, repellent highly recommended, Binoculars for birdwatchers.
Plan to walk about 4 1/2 miles and expect it to take 2-2 1/2 hours
Earlier start as the parking lot can fill up quickly on weekends. If you can arrive early, not a bad idea.
Admission fee is $6; Seniors $4, Audubon members free.
Remember the rules:
You are adults and are expected to make decisions about your own safety and physical abilities.
Wear appropriate footwear and bring plenty of water, sunscreen, and bug spray (if warm & humid).
Move to the side for oncoming walkers on narrow trails.
If you decide to return to your car early or leave the group for any other reason, tell someone.
If you are struggling or need assistance, tell someone.
