Explore Mass Audubon's wildlife sanctuary bordered by the Charles River and wetlands. Well maintained trails weave through the shade of mature woodlands into open fields and along the edges of vibrant streams, ponds, marshland, and Charles River A few small hills. Sturdy shoes or boots recommended. Binoculars for birdwatchers.

Plan to walk about 4 1/2 miles and expect it to take 2 1/2 hours. Walked it this week. A lot of leaves on the ground. Not slippery, but hides the terrain a bit. If you are inclined to use poles, maybe a good time to do so. I did and was glad. That being said, everyone else seemed to fine without them, so not necessary. Bugs were not an issue.

Admission fee is $6; Seniors $4, Audubon members free.
