Card Making Basics: Embossing Folders

In this Card Making workshop, we will be discussing and learning all about the wonderful world of embossing folders. I will show you how the machine creates the embossing and some of the fantastic ways to use the embossing folders to create gorgeous and unique cards.

Join me in an interactive workshop where we will experiment together so you will understand how your machine works and how to achieve the perfect embossed look for your next card.

Supplies Needed:

Embossing & Die-Cutting Machine

1. Two 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" cardstock card bases (same color), scored at 4-1/4

2. One 4" x 5-1/4" (same color as cardstock in #2)
Embossing Folder for #2 & #3 - any will do

3. Foil 4" x 5-1/4"
One 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" Black cardstock card base scored at 4-1/4"
Embossing Folder - rope pattern, diagonal lines, decorative squares, diamonds, gingham, woven cane
anything with a close-knit pattern

4. Foil 4" x 5-1/4"
One 5-1/2" x 8-1/2", scored at 4-1/4"
Black Cardstock for card base 5-1/2" x 8-1/2", scored at 4-1/4"

5. Design on 1/2 of Card
5-1/2" x 8-1/2" Cardstock of Choice, scored at 4-1/4"
Embossing Folder, your choice

6. Vellum - 4" x 5-1/4"
One 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" Balmy Blue cardstock card base,
scored at 4-1/4"
Embossing Folder - floral

7. Envelope Flap
DSP of choice 2-1/4" x 5-3/4"
Embossing Folder - Use one from above

8. Envelope Flap with DSP
Embossing Folder - Use same one from above

9. Entire Envelope
Embossing Folder - linen like folder

10. HodgePodge Embossing
Cardstock of choice 5-1/2" x 8-1/2", scored at 4-1/4"
Embossing Folder of Choice

11. Double Emboss
Cardstock Color of Choice for card base 5-1/2" x 8-1/2", scored at 4-1/4", top mat for embossing 4" x 5-1/4"
Embossing Folders - one with open pattern like paint swipes or large
diamonds, swirls, circles, etc. and
- one with ridges, lines, stripes, rows, etc.

12. Acetate 4-1/4" x 5-1/2"
Cardstock Color of choice 5-1/2" x 8-1/2", scored at 4-1/4"
Embossing Folder of choice

Tape Runner and/or Glue
Bone Folder
Post-It Tape
Paper Snips

Have some extra cardstock available just in case I have a few more. I have lots of techniques to show you using embossing folders, but they will take a bit of time and I am saving them for our Technique Tuesday workshop days.
