What we're about

I created this group to find a group of like-minded people who are excited to get out and explore the nature around us!

I used to hike a lot when I lived in Montreal through Meetup and it is something I am missing in my life lately. I haven't found many hiking friends yet in Vancouver and I would love to meet up for a hike together to enjoy the outdoors, get our exercise in, and to make new friends.

I am a medium fitness level - I can do up to 25-30k in a day but it will take me sunrise to sunset, and I'll likely be hobbling around by the end of it! It takes me around 1h15 to hike the Grouse Grind. For those of you who are slower hikers, please make sure you are the appropriate fitness level to complete the hike - if you feel that you are and do choose to come, we will slow to your pace and not leave you behind. That being said, I do like to cover distance at a medium-to-challenging rate. If you are a fast hiker, that's great, but please slow down to the pace of the group.

My vehicle has spots for 4 (myself, plus 1 front seat passenger and two in the back seat.) We will carpool to the trailhead in this group of 4, and if the group gets popular I will consider adding another vehicle to drive up with hikers and to join us at the trail head to hike together for a group of 5-8.

'Young' means what you want it to mean - I've hiked with people from age 18 to 55 - so you decide whether you feel this suits you. I'm in my mid twenties and am excited to get up the mountain with whomever wishes to join me!
