Coffee lovers, coffee aficionados, coffee likers, or people that just enjoy sitting and sipping a hot beverage. We will tour the many amazing coffee shops in the DC and Northern Virginia area, and possible take a coffee or espresso-making lesson (at Counter Culture or Peregrine Espresso in DC). Tea socials are in the works as well. Yay caffeine!
Argentinian founders first opened this gelato and espresso shop in Georgetown in 2004. Beans are mostly South and Central American. This is the Wharf location, which also serves a full breakfast.
From the website: "The Hunapu espresso, like many of our coffees, has been a collaboration between Sey Coffee Roasters and Dolcezza. The coffee is grown in Antigua, Guatemala at an altitude of[masked] meters above sea level. It is washed-processed, which allows elegant and clean notes to be pronounced in every cup.
We picked Hunapu because we felt that it is a very balanced bean- and by finding the right roast level we would be able to achieve sweet chocolate notes with hints of hazelnut, as well as fruitiness of green grapes. It is not only a complex shot of espresso, but it also compliments our milk beverages harmoniously."
This is a 4 day coffee celebration with many different events in DC during the Autumn Equinox (9/21-9/24).

From the website:
"The United States Brewers Cup (USBrC) is an exciting competition that highlights and celebrates the art of manual brewing. Competitors will perform three services: Compulsory, Open Service, and Audience Service. Compulsory & Open Service are judged by skilled coffee tasters. The Compulsory is a blind tasting, the competitors all brew the same coffee on their chosen manual devices. During Open Service competitors will brew and present their chosen coffee to the judges panel."
