The goal of this meetup (and the whole group) is to give Elixir devs a chance to meet each other. We’ll talk about Elixir, compare it to mainstream languages and share our experiences and knowledge.

Here’s what we’ll talk about at the fist meetup:

  • Darko Fabijan: Reasons for Erlang & Elixir
Darko will give a short overview of the history of Elixir and why Rendered Text adopted it for building our continuous integration service, Semaphore.

  • Predrag Rakić - OOP and Popular Languages in a Multi-core World
We’ll compare using the OOP (Imperative) and the Actor model (Functional) approach in a highly parallel environment.

  • Damjan Bećirović - Using Elixir in a Real-World Project
Damjan will share what we’ve learned about Elixir while working on a complex, real-world project.

After the talks, we’ll have some time for informal conversation along with some snacks and beer. We’d love to hear what other people think/feel about Elixir/Erlang and OTP.
