What we're about
Are you a reader? Are you over 40? Are you looking for a way to meet fellow lesbian readers in a relaxed convivial environment? This is the book club for you! We’ll read contemporary fiction and get together once per month on a Sunday afternoon in my home in Alameda to discuss.
We’ll start at 3 p.m. with light appetizers and social hour (bring something to share—food, wine, whatever you like). We’ll begin discussion at 4 and end around 6 with more time for socializing after. This group is meant to be social with a little bit of structure for discussion.
Because this is a private home, max. of 18 women. Please RSVP only if you really plan to participate and keep your RSVP up to date. If we get a lot of RSVPs, we may have to drop those with multiple no-shows.
Address will be sent out the week prior only to confirmed RSVPs. You must have a visible profile picture on Meetup for safety.
Please note my house is neither vegetarian nor pet-free (resident very chill old golden retriever). Plenty of street parking, but not particularly convenient by public transportation—if BARTing, recommend Fruitvale Station (2-mile Lyft/Uber).
We’ve set up the first couple
of book choices in advance, but as the group establishes, we can pick our next reads together.
August—Before We Were Yours, Lisa Wingate
September—White Houses, Amy Bloom
