What we're about

About Us:

This is an inclusive book group designed to focus on Feminism and gender equality. It is a mixed gender group and LGBTQ friendly. The idea is to discuss the voice, tone, and themes of the book, and to reach out into a wider discussion of Feminism. Meet ups to be held on the second or third Wednesday of every month.

Each month's book will be chosen at the end of the last meet up. All suggestions are welcome. To get you started, you can find a list of ideas here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1jID... There will be an optional £1 contribution towards the cost of running the group.

See here as well for 'Project Implicit', designed to measure "mplicit social cognition - thoughts and feelings outside of conscious awareness and control", the goal being to discover your own level of implicit bias, and "to educate the public about hidden biases and to provide a “virtual laboratory” for collecting data on the Internet".

September Book Club: "Girl, Woman, Other" by Bernadine Evaristo

Morning everyone! Happy weekend! The votes are in and September's book will be Girl, Woman, Other by Bernadine Evaristo. If you're out and about at the shops this weekend make sure to pick up a copy. Waterstones have currently got a "Buy 1 get 1 half price" offer on, which includes this book and other feminist titles by authors such as Margaret Atwood and Sarah Pascoe. Other book stores are available haha! The plan will be to discuss the book on Tuesday 29th from 7pm onwards. Depending on numbers, this will either be another online event or I will book us some space at a pub in Leamington. Enjoy the weekend and go well!
