Last January 2019 Element AI hosted a public lecture with Yoshua Bengio at Amnesty Internationals auditorium in London, a big takeaway from this was how awesome it is to get curious people together to have great conversations!
So, new years resolution, is to run a series of bimonthly AI for Good community meet ups, these sessions will be held on the 3rd Thursday, every other month.
An evening social, open to anyone and everyone interested in learning about how to use AI for Good. At each event we will throw a 15 minute spotlight on our guest speaker, who will share details on a current project.
Our speaker this month is Lachlan Kermode, a software developer and researcher at Forensic Architecture. Forensic Architecture is a multidisciplinary research group based at Goldsmiths, University of London, using architectural techniques and technologies to investigate cases of state violence and violations of human rights around the world.
Lachlan graduated from Princeton University with a degree in Computer Science, and has a background in building full stack software systems. He is most interested in the aesthetics and politics of computing infrastructure, computer history, and other ways of thinking computing critically. He also has experience scripting 3D software, and a soft spot for functional programming techniques.
