What we're about

Hello, I started this group to invite members to the activities of the Photojournalism Hub, which is a newly formed platform that promotes Photojournalism work and it runs programmes that help connect its members, promote their work, and invite their participation to exhibitions, talks, industry-networking events and workshops.

MARGINAL

Re:Centre

History unfolds with stories being told, some of these remain at the margins. Marginal is a photography exhibition that brings people to focus on the stories of social, political and human relevance happening in parallel, alongside and/or hidden from mainstream narratives. In recent years, we have seen dramatic changes that have sparked mass migration, extreme weather patterns, disrupted eco-systems and unstable, volatile and dangerous political changes. The nature of these events has contributed to extraordinary social and political events in the form of mass migration, political upheavals and social transformation but also have suppressed, kept on the margin important narratives. These are real stories that tell uncomfortable truths, that question how much our own social and political sphere is dictated by the influence of chosen narratives bestowed upon us. The stories presented in Marginal let us ponder on how much our history would change if we could have a greater access to stories and to the information that they may contain, whilst questioning the process of selection in itself. The selected photographers, Chiara Ceolin, Claudia Leisinger, Jonathan Goldberg, Mareike Gunsche Parveen Ali ,Wamaitha Ng'ang'a, present some of these human stories, in parallel and/or at the margins of our societies in need of attention, care and social justice: the Roma communities in Europe, the eco activists community living besides Heathrow runaway, the child mothers in Tanzania, the stories of people living with HIV, women affected by domestic abuse and people affected by rising Islamophobia The exhibition is curated by Cinzia D'Ambrosi, photojournalist and director/founder of the Photojournalism Hub.

PJHub Photobook Market

Re:Centre

£20.00

The inaugural Photobook Market will open its doors on the weekend of the 8th and 9th of June at the wonderful riverside gallery Re:Centre. I This is a wonderful event in which photobooks will be made available to the public to view, touch and purchase whilst engaging directly with the creators, photographers, and publishers. Photobooks are wonderful visual experiences, and a great way to invest in photography; they can be in limited editions and collectable. Those that come to the Photobook Market will also have the opportunity to visit the photography exhibition 'Marginal' taking place in the same weekend at the Re:centre gallery and during the HF Arts Festival.
