Self Assignment Photo Challenge - Holiday Lights and Bokeh

Details

The Self Assignment Photo Challenge's primary goal is to inspire you to take more photos with subjects that may be outside your comfort zone. Now you might be thinking that words like "assignment," and "challenge" might be intimidating. Don't panic! By exploring new techniques and equipment choices, you will increase your photography skills.

The self-assignment isn't a contest or a judged event. It's an opportunity to share and inspire with each other. We will meet online to go over the images in a round-robin discussion about the inspiration. Also, I'll review the editing process from my submissions.

Self Assignment - Holiday Lights and Bokeh - Break out the camera for the holidays and challenge yourself for some creative bokeh.

The Bokeh effect is the bright circles in the image's out-of-focus areas. It is more noticeable with bigger apertures - like f/2.8, f/1.8, or f/1.4. For a more dramatic look, make sure the background is about 1.5x further from the subject than you are.

I also have some examples over on my website - https://www.fotodono.com/post/bokeh-foto-fun-with-my-family

Here are the ground rules for this challenge. You will have until January 17th to upload up to three of your favorite images.

Upload the photos via MeetUp. Otherwise, you can send them to me via Dropbox or Google Drive at fotodono@gmail.com.

If you wish, please list the photo equipment and the settings used to create the picture? Optionally, you may also include the software used in editing.

We will meet online on January 18th at 7:00 PM. This is a free event.

I look forward to seeing your results.

Be safe, be well, and take pretty pictures!

Cheers,

Dono aka Foto Dono
