Many of you know Ellen & I are starting a new Wine Club. This new wine club called Friends and Wines is now accepting a limited number of new members. Ellen and I are members in seven local wine clubs. Friends And Wines are unlike any of them, yet Friends And Wines takes bits and pieces of several of them. We are looking to host an upscale wine-pairing group.
Friends And Wines has a website to sign-up for events at www.FriendsAndWines.com Just like several of the local wine clubs, there is an annual membership fee of $30 for a single and $50 for a Plus One membership. The membership fees helps us set-up the club, which we have already spend in excess of a $1000 on. It also helps us plan and pay for deposits, plates, utensils, wine, food and marketing and other things this club needs. The membership fees come with exclusive privileges for members.
With Friends and Wines: wine, food, and the venues will be professionally catered and organized, no food or wine to bring or share. We will cater the food; have professional presenters choosing and educating us on the wines and have commercial venues. It will be upscale and we are catering to an upscale crowd. This is not be a paper plate and plastic silverware group.
The cost of the first event in Roseville for the early people signing up will be $20/person, which includes six wines plus a bonus wine, food to pair it with and a professional presenter. We will offer limited number non-members spots to attend starting at $30 each.
Our group is called Friends And Wines for a reason. We would like a social group that goes beyond the wine tasting. We are organizing post-tasting events at local wines bars with exclusive reserved areas for our group.
We will have a Meet-up group for paid members. We have a Sept 17th and Nov 12 events planned, presenters signed up and venues reserved. The Sept 17th event will be in Roseville the theme will be The Great World of Red Blends. We are limiting the event to 30 people. Sue a wine professional will be presenting six great Red Blends plus a bonus wine. These wines will be available to purchase, after the event discounted for our members. Each wine will be paired with food to educate us. This event will be Saturday night at 7:00 PM with a wine bar social event to follow the event.
Our Nov 12th Saturday night event at 7:00 will be downtown Minneapolis. Our presenter Darrin is a 30-year veteran of the wine industry. He will be educating us on Holiday wines. He will be pairing six wines plus a bonus wine you can buy at a discount to our members that night, so you can have wine to serve over the holidays. We are limiting this event to 50 people. After this event we will be walking distance from a local wine bar which we will have a reserved area for our group. We will be charging a starting price of $20 for members for six+ wines paired with food.
We have just mailed over 500 postcards to possible members in addition to being on several email blasts. We expect our events to fill early and we have no way of adding people once filled.
If you are interested in supporting our group go to www.FriendsAndWines.com We will continue to run a limited number of events with The MN Wine Club but there are getting to be very few wineries that are allowing groups and allowing us to bring our own food. Thus our energies are turned to our new Friends & Wines Club.
