Boo -
Our next Yum Cha will be Sunday, 9/11 at 11:30 a.m. at the Grand Century Chinese Restaurant on Tory Street across from Harvey Norman. I organized a luncheon for my epicurean Club there for 33 people a month ago. It was incredible and all its attendees looked forward to their return.
For those that are unfamiliar with a Yum Cha, it is an age-old Chinese custom where family (including extended families like ours) and friends gather at large round tables for brunch. A spinning lazy Susan is in the table's middle where throughout the meal, servers place small plates of delicious food that the table has ordered. If you enjoy the concept of Yum Cha you can enjoy it again at Tim's and Kenny's Yum Cha meetup.com group later in November.
You are welcome to bring wine to make the experience even more fun, but you don't have to. If you don't wish to participate in the Yum Cha meal, you may order off the menu and just pay for your food. Those who participate in the Yum Cha will equally divide its costs at the end, which should be between around $25. If you bring wine, you will pay for its corkage, which I believe is around $6.
Newbies, this will be a great opportunity to meet the old members before joining them at a Friday night meetup. I will be happy to greet you and to introduce you around.
Please RSVP ASAP as more that do, the more that will do so later.
Best wishes - Michael
