SPRINGSTEEN Deliver Me From Nowhere
On the cusp of global superstardom, New Jersey rocker Bruce Springsteen struggles to reconcile the pressures of success with the ghosts of his past as he records the album "Nebraska" in the early 1980s.
Programmer's Note:
Fans and newcomers alike will find plenty to appreciate in this biopic, which captures just a single chapter in Bruce Springsteen’s decade-spanning career. Jeremy Allen White nails Springsteen’s iconic swagger while revealing a far more vulnerable side of "The Boss", wrestling with depression and his newly achieved stardom. From the opening scene, which features White himself singing Springsteen's seminal hit" Born to Run", he commands the screen.
At its heart, the film offers a refreshingly optimistic take on the music industry, steering away from the cynicism often found in the genre. The central conflict is about the battle within Springsteen himself. His bond with manager Jon Landau (played by Jeremy Strong) becomes the film’s emotional anchor, guiding Bruce toward clarity and hope. Ultimately, this is a story about friendship, resilience, one that will leave audiences both moved and uplifted.
