- Exploration of the San Mateo Asian Foodie FestivalKaizen & Coffee, San Mateo, CA
Hey guys, found this event online and thought it would be prettyfun to go and checkout.
This will be a social stroll around the San Mateo Event Center as we please our taste buds with some outstanding Asian cuisine. I imagine there will be a number of different food stalls boasting an array of delicious grub, but this will be my first time attending the festival myself. I'm looking forward to checking it out with everyone and having a great Sunday to chill and relax in this awesome Bay weather we've been having.
Schedule:
We will kick things off and meet at KAIZEN & COFFEE. From here we can grab some coffee and easily walk a few blocks to the Event Center. Kaizen is also conveniently located just up the street from the Hillsdale Caltrain station for anyone who wants to ride in from SF or the South Bay.At about 11a we'll make our way over to the Event Center for the main event.
We can checkout the festival for a few hours and fill our bellies as we watch some entertaining performances. Afterwards, we'll have the option to hangout a little longer and wash down all the amazing food with some pints at The Swingin' Door which is a fun little pub just down the street from the Event Center.
People are welcome to come and go as they please (it's a very unformal event) but please note that it may be very very difficult to locate us once we're inside the Event Center. I'll be leading the event but I usually don't check my meetup messages often as I'm going for my own enjoyment as well.
About the Event:
Join us for a flavorful experience at the San Mateo County Event Center! Immerse yourself in a celebration of Asian culture through food, performances, and exhibits. Taste a variety of authentic Asian dishes, watch traditional dances, and browse through unique crafts. This in-person event promises to be a feast for the senses. Don't miss out on this opportunity to indulge in all things Asian!Parking:
Parking fee is $18 if paid by credit card or $20 in cash per vehicle, charged by the venue, with no in-and-out privileges. ADA parking is available. Since we're walking over essentially (or maybe ideally), we may be able to park our cars off-site. I'm not super familiar with the surrounding areas and their parking restrictions. It'll be a game-day decision!Tickets:
There are door tickets available or you can prepay HERE.
The venue recommends that tickets be purchased online in advance, as only a limited number of tickets will be available on-site.Hope to see you there!
Arthur - AniClover Anime Party @ DNA LoungeDNA Lounge, San Francisco, CA
Hey guys, for those of you who have gotten to know me know that I'm a big anime geek. This event is the 6th anniversary party for AniClover at DNA Lounge. These parties involve a lot of cosplay and anime soundtracks from well known DJs.
The actual event itself starts at 7:30p and is an 18+ event.
You can get your tickets HERE. There are early bird tickets but tickets rise in pretty big increments so I suggest getting your ticket early if you're set on attending (although there are no refunds!!).
Cosplay is accepted and supported but I personally will probably just be in some anime swag but not in cosplay. Feel free to dress up though!
I was thinking we could gather at Butter across the street (it'll probably have a $5 cover). Butter is super fun and has some stiff drinks for us to pregame with. At around 9:45p we could make our way across the street and into DNA Lounge. *The event will only run until 1am and you're welcome to enter sooner and find us inside. I'll personally be coming from a work event so I may be running a little late but will let you all know what I'm wearing prior to arriving.
Feel free to drop any questions in the comment section and I'm looking forward to a fun night!
Thanks,
Arthur - The Ultimate Crawl ~ Marina Edition (Exploring the Marina)The Blue Light, San Francisco, CA
Hey everyone, this is a continuation of our famed neighborhood crawls. This will be our 4th time visiting the marina in 2025 and it should be a great event! I'm working on securing some fun drink specials and making this slightly more structured than previous crawls.
This is a ticked event ~ please purchase your ticket below. There is a 100% refund policy. If you don't have a good time or it's not for you, you can get your $$ back!
Men's General Admission
This particular event is FREE for women! This event is less about drinking and more about making friends, learning the neighborhood, and finding some new favorite drinking holes. There is a large focus on visiting as many places as we can throughout the evening. With that said we'll be visiting about 20 different bars throughout Cow Hollow and the Marina.
There are essentially 3 types of 'stops'.
- #1 is us stopping in for a drink (usually about 45min) and checking the spot out.
- #2 is a quick walkthrough where essentially we'll enter, touch the back wall, and depart.
- #3 is just a pass-by. We'll just walk past these places and point them out for later investigation!
Everyone will receive a wristband and map/agenda upon arrival. The map also comes with a 'key' listing different features of each place. We'll also have some fun ice-breaker games to play so that we can get to know each other. The goal is to learn about some awesome new spots to showoff to all your friends!
Parking
The Marina and Cow Hollow are pretty hit and miss for parking. You can usually find some if you're willing to look around a bit. There are also several parking garages near Lombard & Fillmore that you can access. Keep in mind that I highly recommend public transit or a 'taxi' any night we'll be out drinking.Agenda
We'll kick things off at The Blue Light located on Union St. From here we'll be making our way to the focal point of the Marina. There will be an opportunity to partake in some dancing at the end of the evening.I know some people won't be able to join us at the start time. Please note that we'll be at The Blue Light for the 1st 45 minutes before kicking things off. I'll try to update the meetup with our location as much as possible but please keep in mind that it's very hard to catch us while we're moving around.
We WILL be stopping for some food along the route but it's always best to show up with a full belly (especially since we'll be drinking).
This whole evening should be an awesome adventure for everyone. Please grab a ticket above and I'm looking forward to seeing you there.
Thanks,
Arthur - Picnic @ Golden Gate Park (4th Celebrations)Hellman Hollow (Golden Gate Park), San Francisco, CA
Hey guys ~ This picnic is going to be on 4th of July weekend. It's not going to be over the top but I thought it would be fun to have some drinks and enjoy some games in the park overall. Our picnics always range in size and attendance but this is a great weekend activity for those not traveling for the 4th.
This is a ticketed event!! See below for details.
I'll bring a chest full of beer, some wines, and some other fun drinks for people to enjoy.
We'll have corn hole, Jenga, spike ball, disc golf, soccer, volleyball, and plenty of other fun games going on throughout the day.
This particular event is always a blast and is simply a massive picnic potluck at Golden Gate Park. Please bring some food to share with the group!
I'll also bring out a large speaker and put together a special playlist to blast to the sound of making new friends.
Purchase your ticket HERE
(100% refund within 24 hours before the event)I'll have 2 tables set-up with red/white picnic tablecloth and will be wearing a colorful headband so that we're easier to locate. I'm hoping to secure some space close to the bathrooms in Hellman Hollow. The pin drop on the meetup map is usually pretty accurate.
Thanks & I'm looking forward to seeing you all,
