Update: We’ll be meeting at the Montana’s, Tillicum mall at 10am before the event and departing from there. Meeting us there is optional. If you need a ride we should be able to offer carpooling. Please reach out in advance if so!

Join us for a simple visit to one of the most accessible wet old-growth forests within reach of Victoria. We’ll meet at noon on April 12 and walk into Jurassic Grove to spend time with the big trees and the feeling of the place. No rigid agenda, just a chance to slow down, look up, and be in the forest.

We’ll visit the Chin Beach Cedar, Fortress Giant, and Mr. Mighty if trail conditions are good, along with two very large old stumps. This forest is currently unprotected.

This is a short hike, but the trail can be rough in places and may require climbing over and under downed trees. Please bring good shoes, water, and snacks.

The drive is out past Jordan River and can be slow, bumpy, and tiring, so please leave plenty of time and don’t rush. Travel from Victoria can take roughly 1 hour 15 minutes to 1 hour 40 minutes depending on conditions. Parking at the arrival point is on both sides of the road, there are some spots and it is often quiet. Carpooling is encouraged where possible.
