Black Crater - Six-Pack of Peaks Challenge Hike #4


Details
This is a 7.3 mile hike that climbs 2,260 vertical feet to the summit of Black Crater -- part of the Six-Pack of Peaks Challenge.
Black Crater has beautiful, front-row views of the Three Sisters, Broken Top and up and down the Cascades. You can find a detailed description of the trail with photos, a map and elevation profile here.
Be sure to eat a hearty and healthy breakfast; it is a fairly steady climb to the top!
Meet at the trailhead at 7am for introductions and a quick gear check, then start hiking by 7:15am.
WHAT TO BRING
- A Northwest Forest Pass for parking. An America the Beautiful National Parks pass will also work.
- At least two liters of water and electrolytes per person. With hot weather expected this week, you might consider 3+ liters!
- Snacks.
- Appropriate clothing / layers
- Sun protection.
- The 10 essentials (Google REI 10 essentials)
