Flawed Man: Marcus Antonius in Myth and Legend.

Marcus Antonius, commonly known in English as Mark Antony, was a Roman politician and general who played a critical role in the transformation of the Roman Republic from a constitutional republic into the autocratic Roman Empire. He is also known for his relationship with the Egyptian queen Cleopatra, the civil war between them and Octavian, who would later become Augustus Caesar, and their defeat, after which Antony and Cleopatra fled to Egypt, where they died tragically, taking their own lives.

Alexander Carzola of the Palm Beach County Archaeological Society looks at the life and legacy of Marcus Antonius, his representation in literature and pop culture, and his continuing influence.
