Welcome to the PREMIERE social networking group in the Meetup community!!
Let’s meet at TOP-QUALITY events…happy hours, plays, sporting events, museums, the Kennedy Center, comedy clubs, live music, festivals, concerts, seminars and more or just to relax and have FUN in the DC/MD/VA area. We welcome your event suggestions! A limited number of events may require travel to nearby cities (for Broadway plays and other social events etc.)

For membership approval, please complete your profile and add your photo. Memberships will not be approved without a photo. Members, PLEASE HONOR YOUR RSVPs and update them as necessary, at least 24 hours in advance, so that we can accommodate ALL members attending our events.

RED, BLACK AND GREEN MLK HIKE

Join Goombay Adventurers for a powerful and uplifting MLK Day hike as we honor the legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. the Goombay way—in nature, in motion, and in community. This hike is more than miles—it’s a moment. Come walk with intention, celebrate legacy, and move forward together.
Dress Code:
Participants are asked to wear RED, BLACK, and/or GREEN (any combination). These Pan-African colors represent strength, unity, resilience, and pride, and together we’ll make the trail a moving tribute.
Saturday, Jan. 19th | 11am-2pm
This is a Moderate Level hike which is open to beginners and advance hikers. The terrain will involve moderate inclines with mostly flat terrain. This trail is 7 miles.

10:45am: Hikers check in at the entrance to the visitor center. You will see the group assembling by the parking lot.
11:00am: Hikers assemble for welcome announcement
11:15am: Hike begins
2:00pm: Hike ends
SUGGESTED EQUIPMENT LIST
- Day Pack with hydration pack or water bottles
- Trekking Poles (optional)
- Sturdy hiking boots or trail sneakers
- Small First Aid Kit (optional)
- Weather-appropriate clothing (think moisture-wicking and layers)
- Hat or scarf
- Trail snacks & plenty of water
- Wipes/Toilet Paper
- Hand Warmers
- Cell phone with back up battery
