maximum light: the solstice of self-knowledge
Details
During the summer, we experience longer days and shorter nights. In this session we will see what happens when that light shines long and hard on us.
We all struggle with life situations from time to time. Maybe you've recently had a difficult conversation with a loved one or a coworker. Or maybe you have done something in the past that you are ashamed of and you can't seem to get past it.
In these situations, we often project, deflect, avoid, act out, numb, and worry. For these most vexing problems, we will do almost anything to avoid facing them head on. But what happens when there is nobody left to run to and nowhere left to hide? What does it take to handle these tough situations well?
Join us on Wednesday July, 8th as we explore the following ancient topics:
Ahimsa (yoga Yama) - non-violence in actions, words, and thoughts towards others and yourself
Satya (yoga Yama) - truthfulness in actions, words, and thoughts toward others and yourself
Plato’s Allegory of the Cave - seeing shadows as reality and the social cost of enlightenment
We will review these in the session, but feel free to do your own research ahead of time if you wish.
