Map and Compass

Details

**PLEASE READ ALL OF THIS**

PLEASE NOTE THIS TAKES ME ABOUT 20 HOURS IF YOU SIGN UP PLEASE BE RESPECTFULL OF MY TIME AND EFFORT

THIS IS NOT A HIKE IT IS A CLASSS ON HOW TO USE A MAP AND COMPASS I ASK YOU TO ASK YOURSELF IS THIS A SKILL I AM SERIOUS ABOUT?

This has been a long time coming. I have misplaced the list the I owe the day too. Please I will trust the honour system . I am going to limit the event to 8 people as we will do the "classroom" at my house. (getting a venue was terribly expensive). Once done that we will figure out when we can head out to Cranberry Flats for the practical.

The travel risks outweigh any benefit

IT MAY BE HOT PLEASE DRESS ACCORDINGLY AND HYDRATE BE PREPARED TO SIT AROUND LISTEN TO MY YAMMERING. WE WILL ALSO BE MOVING A BIT TOO

I SIT PAD OR OTHER INSULATION BELOW YOU WILL MAKE A BIG DIFFERENCE

What your phone dies? Or you lose it

Wouldn’t be nice to figure it out wit the map and compass you brought?

So let’s spend part of a day learning and practicing basic map and compass

Objectives
Read and understand a std topo map
The parts of a compass
Plotting a route
Shooting a bearing
Pacing (How many steps does it take to cover 100 meters)

I will be spending time making the “lesson plans” and printing reference material. That why the twenty bucks

I have enough of the 'preferred compass" Suunto MC-2 globals for all. So we will go with that.
