Distance 6 miles
Difficulty level 2 (easy)

What better way to celebrate Spring then to wander through the Bluebell woods of Burrator Reservoir. Reputed to be the largest bluebell wood in England (along with the 200 other woods that claim the same status), there is nothing quite like walking through a thick carpet of bluebells.

We will meet at the Burrator Dam where there is ample free parking, a WC and a Willy’s Ice Cream van. From there we will take a clockwise route around Burrator Reservoir taking in Norsworthy Bridge, the old settlement of Deanscombe, Sheeps Tor and finally Bluebell Wood and the Burrator Waterfall (who knew?).

Once completed we can retire to (1 mile away) Meavy which is home to the Royal Oak, one of the most picturesque country pubs in the world and we will unwind with fine ale an excellent food on the village green - how about that for a great day out?

Admin Notes
There is a small fee of £2 per person for each walk (paid in cash on the day) to cover costs of running the group site on Meetup (£360 pa) and some minor expenses incurred when reconnoitring walks, mostly fuel and a pint.
This is a not for profit group intended as a social event for people who share an interest in the natural world. You are responsible for your own safety and welfare so please come appropriately dressed for a long rural walk taking account of the prevailing weather conditions. Should you participate in any foraging events, it is your own responsibility to identify, to your own satisfaction, anything you plan to eat. Some walks may involve an additional degree of physical challenge. If so, this will be clearly stated in the description. If you then choose to participate in these activities you do so at your risk.
