CHARMOUTH FOSSILS🦕
Details
⭐️ Assessing if there is any interest for this type of event - I am a geologist who has been visiting these unstable cliffs for over 30 years from Tavistock⭐️ Can ID finds for you but its also a great setting for an afternoon out
Join us for a stroll along the beach @ noon on a lowering neap tide looking out for fossils - there have been some rare finds recently - reptile bones etc.
If you have not been its very different place !
We walk towards Seatown along the tideline - many metallic yellow pyritic ammonites ( Jurassic squids ) are found - loads in fact recently.
Couple of hours along the tideline should take us 2 miles - the cliffs here you will have seen on the news - Stonebarrow - we dont venture on the mud & avoid particularly unstable looking areas....
Hiking boots / super wellies best - rock, shingle variable - we dont go up on mud its dangerous.....
Bring food / drink for break @ the waters edge - not beneath any cliffs...
Car park is £6, possible to park in village free and walk 20 min down to sea front..
