After meeting at Pullabridge car park we’ll follow the Dartmoor Way along the Bovey to Hisley wood where we will enter the cleave. Where we will begin looking for mushrooms and toadstools. Please take photos in preference to picking as we will be inside a nature reserve at this point on own journey. The plan is to stop at Woodash bridge in the centre of the woods and split into small groups. We will then spend 30 or 40 minutes searching for and photographing the mushrooms and fungi we find in the area before gathering again at the bridge. I may blow a whistle from time to time to help us keep in touch. There is an optional log bridge challenge here for those who fancy giving it a try.
From the bridge there is a climb to up toward the village of Water and then drop back into the cleave to cross the river once more to cross the Bovey once more at Hosham steps. From here its up over Sharpitor Nut Crackers, a great view point where we’ll take a short break, and then down into Lustleigh via Middle Combe. Fortunately there is nice pub in Lustleigh where travellers may rest their weary bones and sample the landlords wares whilst sharing our fungi photos before traversing the final mile back down to Pullabridge car park

This is a not for profit group intended as a social event for people who share an interest in the natural world. You are responsible for your own safety and welfare so please come appropriately dressed for a long rural walk taking account of the prevailing weather conditions. Should you participate in any foraging events, it is your own responsibility to identify to your own satisfaction anything you plan to eat. Some walks may involve an additional degree of physical challenge. If so, this will be clearly stated in the description. If you then choose to participate in these activities you do so at your risk.
There is a small fee of £2 for each walk to cover costs of the meetup page which is currently over £300 per year and also to cover some minor expenses incurred when reconnoitering walks, mostly fuel and a pint.

By attending any event organised through this Meetup group, you acknowledge that you participate entirely at your own risk.
Activities such as hiking, cycling, wild swimming, and foraging involve inherent risks, including injury, illness, changing weather conditions, difficult terrain, water hazards, wildlife, and other unforeseen circumstances.
Participants are responsible for:
- Assessing their own fitness, ability, and experience.
- Bringing appropriate clothing, equipment, food, water, and any required medication.
- Following the law, the countryside code, and any local regulations.
- Taking reasonable care for their own safety and the safety of others.
