What is a Bitcoiner you ask?

Bitcoiners focus only on freedom technology that cannot be stopped or controlled. Bitcoin has no owner, no board of directors and no marketing team. Bitcoin is freedom for everyone.

Bitcoiners are NOT the "Crypto" or "Blockchain" or "NFT" crowd. They are unfortunately quite common in Cape Town. They try to outright scam you with the projects or "shitcoins" conjured up out of thin air.

Bitcoiners are about about education, freedom and love.

Quick introduction from the host:

Hi I'm Ben, as you can probably tell, I'm super passionate about Bitcoin. I've been running the Bitcoin Brisbane meetup back home for 3 years. I'm also the founder of paybtc, a popular Bitcoin-only self-custody exchange in Australia.

I visit Cape Town often, but I'm yet to meet any Bitcoiners here. This meetup is an experiment to see how many Bitcoiners or curious people are here in Cape Town.

After this one, I'll give this meetup to a solid Cape Town Bitcoiner who's keen to take over the meetup after I leave, so he/she can schedule monthly meetups, along side other bitcoin meetups. Will provide the banner design files, transfer the group etc.
