Short film screenwriting course - ONLINE
Details
Curious about screenwriting and not sure where to start? This welcoming and practical online 3-week course is designed for anyone keen to begin exploring screenwriting through short films—an ideal and achievable entry point into writing for the screen.
You can pay £120 for the full 3 weeks or just £40 for one session but to get the most out of it ideally come to all three sessions.
Delivered live online across three weekly sessions, the course will guide you step by step through the fundamentals of short film writing. We’ll explore what makes a strong short film, different structural approaches available to writers, and the basics of industry-standard formatting.
You’ll also learn how to develop realistic and producible ideas, how to prepare for pitching and making a short film, and the key do’s and don’ts to keep in mind when starting out. Each session will combine teaching, discussion, and practical exercises, with space to ask questions and build confidence as you go.
This is a beginner-focused and supportive course with a relaxed, social atmosphere. Participants are encouraged to bring their own ideas for short films and receive constructive feedback from the group. Alternatively, you can experiment with adapting a short story for the screen, or work from creative prompts provided throughout the course to help visualise story, evoke emotion, and explore character in depth.
