## Andrew Davis, Head of Advanced Engineering Simulation (UKAEA)

Fusion energy holds the promise of virtually unlimited supplies of low-carbon, low-radiation energy. To achieve the vision of fusion energy on the national grid, digital engineering needs to help optimise the design, operation and maintenance of fusion power plants and systems. This talk will outline how digital engineering is being used to tackle this challenge. Digital engineering covers the gamut of computer aided design (CAD), meshing, computing, software development, modelling, data provenance, and digital twins. It is the glue which will bring together aspects of fusion modelling (plasma, materials, radiation, mechanical, thermal etc) into one coherent place to allow actionable and optimised fusion component design to be realised.Andrew Davis, Head of Advanced Engineering Simulation (UKAEA)
